Our Mission
Healing our Homeland begins with our intention to liberate ourselves. We stand with Palestinian families by providing dignified mutual aid and creating space for education, community and compassionate support.
Our Vision
Our vision is to revive the ummah through intentional healing that begins in Palestine and expands as we celebrate liberation. Inspired by the teachings of the Holy Quran on justice and ethical responsibility, we aim to awaken a global community to actively resist and transform the oppressive status quo.
This global community, or ummah, will hold a collective intention to resist and divest from all forms of injustice and oppression.
Our vision is grounded in the Quran’s thematic messages of justice, responsibility, and ethical consciousness.
Meaning in English of Verse 58 from Chapter 4 of the Holy Quran, titled “Women”:
“Behold, God bids you deliver all that you have been entrusted with unto those who are entitled thereto, and whenever you judge between people, to judge with justice. Verily, most excellent is what God exhorts you to do: verily, God is all-hearing, all-seeing!”
In this verse, God emphasizes the covenant between us and our Creator. We have been entrusted by God with our free will and countless blessings—our breath, our sight, our mind, our body, our wealth, and more. God warns us against misusing these blessings to commit injustice and calls for equity for all. We have a responsibility to encourage beautiful actions and hold ourselves accountable.
Our Core Values
Healing our Homeland is built on the core principles of justice, dignity, and liberation for all. Our values reflect a commitment to Islamic ethics and the anchored principles of the Palestinian liberation movement, as the foundation for our work. We are guided by the belief that collective liberation requires collective action, grounded in solidarity, care, and resistance to systems of oppression. We ask that all prospective volunteers carefully review and align with the core values of HOH before joining our efforts. Our values are rooted in Palestinian liberation, justice, solidarity, and beautiful action. It is important that everyone involved shares these principles to ensure we are working toward the same goals and that no time or energy is wasted.
Commitment to Palestinian Rights: We uphold Al-Thawabit Al-Wataniyya (the fundamental principles of our Homeland) as inviolable rights, including the right to resistance by any means, self-determination, the right of return for refugees, rejection of any normalization with the Zionist entity, and Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Palestine. These fundamental principles are central to our mission and actions.
Challenging Systems of Oppression: We stand against all forms of colonialism, imperialism, and racism. We recognize that the Palestinian struggle is interconnected with the global fight against oppression, including racism, patriarchy, and white supremacy. We actively oppose these systems and work towards dismantling them in solidarity with all marginalized communities.
Liberation through Grassroots Organizing: We believe in the power of grassroots movements led by those most impacted. We foster spaces for leadership that amplify the voices and needs of Palestinian communities, and encourage the active participation of local and global allies in the movement for Palestinian liberation.
Solidarity and Collective Action: We understand that true liberation is collective. We commit to working in solidarity with global movements for justice, focusing on healing and empowering communities while striving toward collective freedom. We acknowledge the importance of supporting Black and Indigenous struggles for liberation as interconnected with our own.
Care and Connection: We believe that liberation is not just political, but also spiritual, personal, and collective. We prioritize spiritual growth and inner work, deepening our connection to God and to each other as part of the liberation process. This inner work sustains the movement, ensuring that we can show up fully for Palestinians and all those impacted by oppression. Compassionate support and connection are vital for maintaining the strength and unity needed to drive meaningful change.
Accountability, Integrity, and Transparency: We hold ourselves accountable to the Palestinian people and to the movement for liberation. We operate with integrity, honesty, and transparency in all our actions, taking ownership of both our successes and areas for improvement.
Professionalism and Excellence: We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, ensuring that every initiative, from humanitarian aid to grassroots organizing, is executed with care, competence, and respect.
Global Vision and Local Impact: Our mission extends beyond borders. We provide essential aid and solidarity, both in Palestine and globally, working in Gaza, Egypt, Morocco, and other disempowered communities. We also emphasize the importance of community-building and grassroots organizing within the U.S. and around the world to ensure that the movement for Palestinian liberation becomes stronger and more connected.
